BSCS- 5E Instructional Model

The 5E instructional model was developed in 1987 by the Biological Sciences Curriculum Study in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  The 5 components to the instructional model include the components Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate or Extend (dependent on continuing in the same topic or extending to other content areas), and Evaluation.  Using the development model as described encourages sequencing of content presentation to facilitate student learning.
